The year was 2002. I was an unpaid intern in Boston, MA. HQ just happened to be an awesome brownstone in the Back Bay. After the work whistle blew one summer evening, the team congregated on the roof to chef up some sausage and burgers (and have a few Sammy Summers or 5!). As I amazed my compadres with some primo grilling skills, boss man just blurts out, “You’re the King of Leisure” and it stuck.
Flash forward to 2009, Winston, the tri-color, King Charles Cavalier Spaniel was born. This dog went on to live almost 15 years by doing less. Lazy by no means, he just just lived like a King! Winnie was not only my first fur-child, but became the catalyst to promote this endeavor. Winston is our spirit animal.
In 2018, KOL was incubated in Colorado out of necessity. I just could never find the perfect camping shoe, so I’m building my own, while creating my own Kingdom.
Part shoe/part bootie/part slipper – our Winston shoe is as awesome as the dog it’s named after.
